UNSPOKEN RULE

In my ongoing quest to find some cool images, particularly some cool retro things, I started looking at 'Lost in Space'. And not that remake either, the original from the '50s. There is something strangely unsettling about a ambiguously camp older man, and a small boy having 'adventures' while at the same time being turned on by a teenage girl with pointy tits. Very odd.

The girl who played Jane Robinson was Marta Kristen. I was trying to find a good image of her, for design purposes of course! when I came across this image. Don't ask me how they're related?

At any rate, check out the close up. It's hilarious. If someone saw someone else who actually looked like this, they'd be convinced she was a ghost. Smooth skin and delicate features are one thing, this is just crazy. Also note the difference in JPEG noise in her hair and on her eyes (for someone who doesn't know what JPEG noise is, that sounds pretty suss!)... compared to on her face.

Random. JPEG noise, that's genius. Well, I'd better go clean the JPEG noise off of my sheets now

KEEP ON TRUCKIN

I just took a look around at some other blogs. Dang. Dang to the max. My site is 'unique' which is of course mother-talk for shit. Maybe if I added some whizz-bang flash animation, or hired a chimpazee to dance on a web-cam 24-7 things would improve. I think I might relearn flash, html and those other nerdish things... it's been a long while. I tried to put it behind me. But you; the people have demanded, neigh, EARNED it! Yes, for the people, it shall be done!

MY BIG BROTHER LOOKS AFTER ME

So basically I'm screwed.

But this poster is turning out better than I thought. Keep in mind that this is only a ROUGH SKETCH. I'm just working out the overall look, not focussing on things like good illustration, fonts and text and that goes with that, or anything at all really, just getting the images out of my head.

I think I might add a hand with a finger pointing like Uncle Sam or Kitchener (look that poster up in Google, it's very similar to what Orwell was thinking). And I'm gonna redraw it in Adobe Illustrator.

I like the Russian-esque hand lettering I did. But not in the hand-letter style. I'll redo that too. But the backward R and N is essential to developing a socialist theme. Don't ask me why.

Also, check out the border. It's the moto of INGSOC: War Is Peace. Freedom Is Slavery. Ignorance Is Strength. Chilling words... now you want to read the book?

Song, Bond Song

On the opposite end of the scales Madonna's artificial sounding 'Die Another Day' is pretty poor. And as far as Bond themes go 'Live and Let Die' by Wings sounds way to wussy. And 'A View to a Kill' by Duran Duran is stuck in the '80s. It's good but it's just James Bond good. And don't even get me started on 'We Have All the Time in the World' by Louis Armstrong. Don't get me wrong Satchmo is cool, but he's too Christmas and not Pussy Galore.

I'll get off my high-horse now, and sign off.

A VINTAGE SHIRT WITHOUT COOPER BLACK?

Tricycle

Here is another shirt design, which I'm proud to say doesn't have any Cooper Black (a font) anywhere on it! Unfortunately these feat of mine was let down by the fact that: A) I used Bookman [another staple of the 'retro' look] and worse still B) the swash characters (the fancy looking letters) aren't even the genuine Bookman Swash. It was from a font called Brookman...

Luckily! I did completely alter this crappy font, and sorta made it a bit better. I certainly made the other letters fit together better than the stocko version, but more than that I deleted all these superfluious points on the outside of the letters.

Not that most of you would even care, only _one or two people might. But probably only _one.

That's all for now, I'm Elliott Scott, signing off.

OOooooohhhh, its the PARSLEY that made it fancy!

Here is another alternative for the Parsley shirt, suggested by a regular reader Angry. Thanks Angry for the suggestion. Good thinkin'

As for the actual illustration goes, here is a rough sort of plan. Depending on my laziness (which is usually in the high levels) I might redo it, or I might just send it in as is.

Not complaining! I love this kind of thing, I think I just need a break for a day or so.

I'll send it in anyway; they wanted my other crap; maybe they'll want this too! Who knows?

I went out with Tanner and his girlfriend Melody (or Alice, her name varies, it's cool). It was pretty fun actually. I was expecting it to be hard. Not so much. Sure, when we went to a romantic sorta place it was a bit awkward, but I think she sensed my (obvious) unease and kept it pretty neutral. Which I felt a bit guilty about, but also thankful for.

We went around town causing low-level generic mayhem, as per usual. Nothin too extreme. I had about 10 business cards of mine in my wallet and we put them in random sorts of places. Such as in the windsheild wiper of fancy cars and in girls handbags. Hopefully someone will call (but not in an angry way). It'd be rather cool if someone offered me a job, or a chick wanted to go out. Both unlikely but still possible.

So yeah I acted the fool, I suppose in a subconcious but now concious way to compensate for not being the emotional center of attention that used be when me, Tanner and MY girlfriend went out.

Not that I'm complaining, or upset or anything.. nothing like that. It was just different. But good too. I like hanging out like that. Three is better than two. Not that Tanner isn't a great friend, he is, it's just the more the merrier.

We also went to the park. Yeah, weird, late at night playing on the swings and whatnot. Bizarre. I dunno. Fun though.

So I'm gonna do another shirt using the image on the right. Or above, depending on where it is to this text... duh. Also even though I haven't even finished Mondayne3 yet, I have BIG plans for turning George Orwell's 1984 into a graphic novel. Ideally I'd like to be paid, and have it published and be legally be allowed to use the name and story, but that ain't gonna happen. No way sistah!

I have no patience for the tiny, miniscule movements, the microscopic refining that's involved with icons or fonts. Nope, I'm a bigger man than that! I need big shiny things with crazy colors and eye-catching wizz-bang effects.

When it comes to icons I am plain no good. But let me ask you this; What has two thumbs and doesn't give a crap? ME!

$300 bucks later the client gets their icons. At least it's light purple. That always looks good in a book. ALWAYS!

The ideas are there, but my drawing skill isn't. I can't draw. Lets face it. This simple drawing took the better part of an entire day. But I suppose it shows. I reckon it looks pretty damn cool.

On the plus side, I've gotten pretty skilled at using a laptop trackpad. Yeah, that's right folks, I used a trackpad to draw this.

REMOVAL

I just removed a post of mine. I said that I'd be happier this year, and I am gonna keep trying. This blog has ended up replacing a physical journal I kept for a while, and because of that it contains some private stuff that was never actually intended to be read. I know, I know, it will be read... so perhaps I shouldn't have posted it. I wish no-one read it. But someone did; Terin. He was (I mean: IS [he's not dead]) my first friend. And somehow, even after not seeing him for 13 years he's still a good friend. He usually gives me some good advice, and I thank him for that. So he read the post, said some nice things, some inspiring things... but nonetheless, I still wish I hadn't have posted it in the first place. A moment of weakness. I have to many of them, I'd better start controlling myself more.

I'm Elliott Scott, a lone tear rolls down my face, signing off.

PS. "I'M OUT THERE BABY! AND I'M LOVIN' EVERY MINUTE OF IT!"
PPS. My ass is seriously sculpted. Like an ancient Greek statue or somethin.
PPPS. It's not really. It's normal. .... uh ... not that I check other guys asses on a regular basis (looks side to side frantically for an excuse!)
PPPS. Please don't combine the first and third post script and draw a conclusion. I like chicks, I swear.
PPPPS. I don't hide behind humour. I don't! Stop looking at me like that!

I've got a tight deadline for the comic, so I'd better get a move on. Plus I've got those t-shirts to finish, and the illustrations for that book....

Model
Originally uploaded by Elliott Scott.
I know I'm an idiot, you don't to tell me... Does anyone else choose hair dye colors based on the model? No, well... yeah. I wanted to dye my hair last week, to something other than black. So I choose the color, a browny blondey color. The model on the front certainly influenced my choice. But the stupid this was, by me dying my hair, was I expecting to be more attractive to her? or to look like her? Both are equally stupid.

Anyway, it was an utter disaster, my hair still had black dye in it, so that part stayed black, and the roots were bright orange... really weird. So it's black to normal now...

PS. Does anyone know the name of this model? Probably not huh? Seeing as though only a tiny handful of people actually read this site...

RANDOM ASSORTMENT O' CRUD

Me Too
Originally uploaded by Elliott Scott.
Minor adjustments. Moved the 'me' over a little, it was a bit too close before. Removed some of the bubbles, they were too cluttered, and adjusted the colors. Not sure what color the shirt should be actually, I'm not a big fan of white, and the image doesn't work well on anything dark, this might be a bit too dark. Although I reduced the contrast between dark and light areas, and think that looks a bit better.

shuffle
Originally uploaded by Elliott Scott.
Blah blah blah, the new Mapple iPod shuffle. Although it looks cool, and I want (being the consumer whore that I am [and how]), that's not the point of this post.

Every week Elliott (who I am) goes through a little crush. This weak [spelt wrong on purpose] it's the iPod shuffle model. She's cute. Although perhaps a bit to Jennifer Garner-ish, with the strong chin. But she has an iPod! My emotions are all confused!? Anyway, a random and pointless post.

i'd like to shuffle her iPod. Or something like that?? So at any rate; if you're reading this iPod shuffle model, do you want to go out some time? I think you're cute, and shirley you must think I'm cute [just look at that sexy cartoon of me!]

THE INTERWEB

Crusing the ol' interweb, I came across a site full of interesting flash animations and movies and some cool stuff. Being the devient that I am, I naturally end up in the 'mature' section, which doesn't have porn as such, but content which isn't exactly suitable for little Timmy or Betty.

On that page was this ad. Which actually made me laugh out loud! Yeah, OUT LOUD! not just chuckle to myself.

If you can't read the text, this is what it says:
HEY THERE DORK! YEAH, I'M TALKING TO YOU!
WHEN YOU'RE DONE OGGLING THESE GAMES, WHY NOT COME OGGLE ME AND MY FRIENDS? WE'RE ANIME CHICKS, AND SICKOS LIKE YOU JUST LOOOOVE THAT KIND OF STUFF! DOOORK!

This is meant to be an alternative for the 'Prostitutes Suck' shirt, but I sorta changed the meaning a bit (ok, a lot!). So yeah, mixed feelings about this one. I do like my drawing though.

Shirts
Originally uploaded by Elliott Scott.
I heard back from the shirt people; FINALLY! They've finalised which designs they want, but with three of them they want some changes. I need some help. Seriously!

Actually I was kinda suprised too, I thought they would have chosen different designs to what they did; the 'Long Neck' one and the 'Wyoming' one aren't amoungst my favourites. I liked the 'Boom Box' and 'Bleh Shoe' and 'Pop Rock' ones. But apparently there were some copyright issues or something. Yeah right.

Well at any rate, I NEED some help with the designs for the 'Prostitute Sucks', 'Eat Out' and the 'Parsely' (which I think is fine, but anyway)

I'd like some suggestions. If you have any, whether you think they're good or not, please send them to me. I NEED them. I can't stress that enough.

LOOK MA! A comic....

Page-5
Originally uploaded by Elliott Scott.
Yes, that's right folks, I have actually produced something resembling a page! OMG.. oh em gee indeed. The background isn't 100% but its close. and some shading needs to occur, but it too is close. You can actually see text AND image at the same time. It's a miracle.

I got lappy back yesterday. It was great. We went out for a romantic dinner, had some wine, got frisky, and went to bed. (Yes, I am talking about a laptop, it's sad I know)

So, things are coming along. I should have the 'mic done by the time the exhibition starts. Which is important.

ON THE UPSIDE

i had another dream about her. this one was similar to all the others. but different in several key ways:

1. she was beautiful. in most of my dreams about her she's nice looking, cute and all that, how she really looks, but this time she was beautiful. i had never seen her look more radiant. her eyes sparkled, her hair was perfect, she was absolutely wonderful. she was perfect.

2. i went to her place. which is where i always go. i used to live there too. it was my old apartment in spring hill, and where things were best, and worst between us. and i was in her bed. we were lying down. it was basically like the last time i saw her. but last time i got up and left on a sour note, this time she did the talking.
"elliott, i love you. I'm sorry about all the hurt i've caused. i miss you. i want to get back together with you."
i was shocked. it was what i wanted. "i want you to move back in", she said.
"no. i can't do that. i love you too. i always have loved you, but i can't move back in. we need to figure this out, and not just rush back in."

then i woke up.

i was happy. it was one of those dreams that are soo real, that you beleive them. except this didn't happen. and it wasn't very real at all! it was realistic, but not real.

i'm not sure if i'm upset that much anymore. writing this now is sorta gettin' me down, but not really. thinking about her can make me upset, but i can shrug it off pretty quickly. but i still can't escape from her in my dreams. every night i dream of her. EVERY NIGHT! it's like some sort of torture. so if you wonder why i won't just let it go, or just stop thinking about her, it's because i physically can't. i actually can't stop thinking about her. every single day i think of her. i don't want to, i don't like it, i don't want to dwell, or depress you guys, or be depressed myself, but i can't stop.

well, that's about all i can say. i don't really expect any sort of response from yuo guys. i don't want sympathy, or some reassuring words, or a hug or anything like that. i just type, and if you learn a bit more about me, that's good.

thanks for the support over the last year and a bit, it means a lot.
