SOMEWHAT BORED

I'VE NEEDED A BREAK FROM WORKING ON MY WEBSITE and other sites, and freaking out, and stressing and that sort of stuff, but I can't really afford to leave the house. My savings has dwindled quite a lot, so I'm kind of under house arrest (just like Paris Hilton!) so I've been revisiting old photographs. I've assembled a bunch of New York photographs and put them up on Flickr. They're really nice photo's, some more touristy than others... They're all black and white too, which means they're 'artistic'. Right?

IT'S A COMMON KILLER (plus some videos)

I'M BACK. AND I'VE GOT A SEVERE CASE OF POST HOLIDAY DEPRESSION. I'll update you guys with everything that went on, as well as new life goals and everything very soon. For now just be well assured that New York was better than everything I could hope for, and it was absolutely perfect.

PPS. There wasn't any photo updates for a while because my internet access fell through. Sorry about that. I've got 1800 photos to sort through, there'll be at least 3 good ones from that. And some videos too.

ON MY WAY OUT TO IHOP RIGHT NOW FOR BREAKFAST, but letting everyone know there's many more NY photos to look at. I've been trying to upload these for days but the web has been an elusive beast.

YESTERDAYS POST, TODAY

YESTERDAY WE WENT TO:
1. Katz's Deli for lunch. Holy crap those sandwiches were huge! between us we had 2 bowls of matzo-ball soup, 8 pickles, 2 egg creams (a fizzy eggy, creamy drink), 1 can cherry soda, 1 can celery soda (yes, you heard correct) and one sandwich!
2. MoMA. Very good museum full of wonderful artwork as well as some design. It has a good layout and balances modern and cool, with respect for classics.
3. Chinatown. We had $1 dumplings! They were totally delicious. Actually they were 5 for $1, so we got 30. I could only eat 4, and Linus 5, so we've got some for breakfast.
4. Upright Citizen's Brigade. A small comedy club which lots of SNL people started at. We saw a very funny show called 'Friends Without Benefits' about the trouble two girls have when they fall in like. Very funny. Awkward. Best line: "This is going to be great, you can get me great deals on diamonds." ... "What? NO! I told you, I'm not Hasidic!". Maybe you had to be there.
5. A Supermarket. Although this sounds lame, it was totally cool. I saw all these great products I hadn't seen in years! And it was a total trip down memory lane. Also the security gaurd whose was one of those 'I ain't taking no crap from nobody' big black ladies, and she caught me taking photographs of stuff.
IATNCFNBBL: "Sir, are you shopping or taking photos?"
ME: "Ugh, I ugh,.. I was just, I, I'm shopping."
IATNCFNBBL: "Didn't I just see you zooming in on this cereal box?"
ME: "Yeah, I guess so. Is that a problem?"
IATNCFNBBL: "No, I don't care, I ain't Post (the cereal brand)"
ME: "Oh. Ok. Well I am shopping too."
IATNCFNBBL: "That's fine sir. I'm sorry for bothering you."

She also came back to help us figure what milk we wanted. The normal milk has weird labels, there's no simple milk. ANYWAY it was fun.

Lastly we saw glimpses of the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings. Very cool!

IT CONTINUES

WENT INTO DUNKIN DONUTS FOR BREAKFAST and the guy serving me says:
"Buenos dias senor. Com estas?"
... "uh...?"
"Oh, sorry sir. How can I help you?"

He thought I was Spanish/Mexican too!

Aside from that, everyone I've dealt with in the service industry has been EXTREMELY professional and courteous. You wouldn't expect a 15 year old Taco Bell employee to be friendly or polite at 1am, but he totally was. I'm very impressed.

And now I am going to eat my breakfast and warm my fingers which are actually tingling from the cold.

BACK IN THE USA

SO I MADE IT TO NEW YORK SAFELY. The flight was a bit rough, but it was ok.
So far (being here for 6 hours) I've already:
1. Rode the subway around.
2. Been to see Ground Zero.
3. Seen Times Square.
4. Had a slice of pizza.
5. Eaten 3 tacos (2 crunchy and 1 soft) from Taco Bell!!!!
6. Seen a 'New York Crazy' yelling about how we hate him, but he'd jump across the tracks (of the subway) to save us.
7. Been sworn at for crossing the road by a limo driver.

Huzzah!

CHANGE OF PLANS

BECAUSE OF THE STRIKE I'm going to New York tomorrow instead of wednesday. Huzzah!

NO MORE COUNTDOWNS (EVER!)

INSTEAD I've got a permanent countdown built into the blog! There's always something to count down, even if it is pointless, makey-uppy things like 'Time till I pee'. Fun for the whole family.

RUMOUR REMOVER

I'LL BE GOING TO NEW YORK THIS MONTH! Some people have asked some questions, which will be answered below:

1. No, I won't be looking for work while I'm there. I plan on enjoying my time there, and acting as a scout for possible intentions on moving there and working if it is good.
2. No, Soryi is not coming with me. I needed to book my ticket by a certain date to get the great deal that I did. Soryi wants to go, but at the time of booking didn't have the money to spend. She does now but has just started a new job so can't take time off yet.
3. Yes, I will be meeting Linus in NY while he's travelling around the world. He will be there before me and after me, and then travel onto Chicago and beyond.
4. As far as I know Linus will not be looking for work in NY. He does has work to do while travelling providing some income, but that work was from Australia, and worked out before he's leaving.
5. Of course I will miss Soryi and wish that was coming too, but unfortunately it didn't work out that way.
6. Yes, I am aware Linus snores a lot, and we will be sharing a room in a hostel, so I will need to buy some gaffer tape.
7. No, I am not moving there permanently. I will be going back to Ireland when the trip is over.
8. No, I don't know what I'll be doing after Ireland!!! Please, I beg everyone, seriously, stop asking. I don't know!

Ok, so that was obviously a bit intense, sorry. I am getting very frustrated/nervous.

COUNTDOWN: 27 days!

I'VE GOT ME AND LINUS two tickets to see Late Night with Conan O'Brien when we're in NY! That should be totally great. I'm totally excited. My dad has a friend from NBC who is the director of the show, and he said we could have some tickets. Totally awesomes.
