THE GUYS ARE THROWING US A GOING AWAY PARTY. It was supposed to be a suprise, so I'm not supposed to know, so don't tell them that I'm telling you that I know. Anyway it's on the day of graduation, right after the ceremony. Not the best of timing, but it's our last weekend. So come out for some food and drinks. It'll be our last blast together!

Details will be up soon. As well as more invitations. Actually I'd love it if you guys did some invitations too, post a comment and I'll send you the info, and then our Events and Promotions manager (Linus) will send them out to everyone. It's gonna be fun! FOR FURTHER INFO: contact Linus: 'linus AT elbodesign DOT com' or Tanner: 'b_klever AT msn DOT com'

TIME COMMA RUNNING OUT OF...

Hair

HERE IS ANOTHER ILLUSTRATION. This one is the most complex and has taken about 6 hours now. But the more I look at it the less I am inclined to use it. It's too sexual. The original photo wasn't so sexy, the girl was more mysterioud looking, and less 'come hither'. She was leaning against a pole outside some dodgy diner, but it looks like she's in silky underwears standing at her bedroom door. So what I need is some suggestions on how to change it. Make it more mysterious.

ALSO: I was watching an episode of the Simpsons and Steven Hawkings was in it. The end credits said he played himself. Now I don't want to sound rude but wouldnt the be able to use ANY computer generated voice, and not bother him?

ALSO: Tanner and Linus are organising a 'suprise' going away party for me and UNG. It's gonna be on the same night as graduation (it's our last weekend in Aust.) so contact them if you want more info. Linus: 'linus AT elbodesign DOT com' or Tanner: 'b_klever AT msn DOT com'

IS THIS BETTER? I like the look better, more mysterious, but its not as similar to the other images. They dont have gradients. Or as many colors. Yay? Or nay?

IT TAKES A LONG LONG TIME

BikeIllu
OldSchool2illu

SO HERE IS ANOTHER illustration I'm working on. I am gonna be putting them in my portfolio now, instead of the dinosaurs, so I want them to be good. But it's a LOT of work to get them looking good. And this one in particular because (A) its the first imaged in the book, and (B) it's a picture of me so my vanity is making me really nervous. But I think it's a good resembelance...

I FORGOT TO GO TO SLEEP LAST NIGHT... Which is bad. Oh well. At least I spent the last 7 hours working on these images. Hmmm. They're totally Threadless-like in their limited color pallettes. Maybe I'll submit them. Or at least put them in my folio. I'll do a few more too.

RISENSHINE

Morning

LITTLE IS WORSE THAN GOING TO WORK BEFORE SUNRISE. I left my house at 5.00am in order to get on the 5.35 train, have breakfast in the city and at uni by 7.30 for a photoshoot. Unfortunately 10 minutes before I arrived at South Bank the photograher cancelled the shoot cuz of the weather. HOORAY!

Anyway I went to the city instead, and whoever said "The crazy ones come out at night" was dead wrong. The crazy ones are out at 6.30. This one guy took one look at me, snapped his heels together and gave me an enthusiastic Htiler salute. What? Do I look like a nazi? I didn't think I did, but maybe I should look again.

And then there are the throngs of people exercising. I rode my bike this morning to the station and through the city, but only because I HAD TO, not by choice. These people, with their proactive approach to fitness and self-improvement, well quite frankly it scares me.

So that leads me to where I am now. At the front of Liveworm, an hour and a half early, with absolutely nothing to do, and the amount of time I can stay awake for dwindling rapidly. DAMN YOU OVERCAST CLOUDS!!!

IESSO

PS. Everyone loves time-lapse photography, pretend that little sequence is time-lapsed. Ok, I guess it is, but pretend it's GOOD.

THE ETERNAL CONUNDRUM

Conundrum

I POSE THIS QUESTION TO YOU: What is the best cover song ever? And why? I suggest 'These Boots Were Made for Walking' by Jessica Simpson, originally by Nancy Sinatra. Remember my post of September 06, 2005....

So, post a comment if you dare!

OVER ZEALOUS

OverZealous

I'VE BEEN PUT IN CHARGE of sticking up the Art&God posters around the place. I stuck them up all over the city and Valley, as well as the various universities in the city. I might have gotten a bit carried away...

IESSO

PS. Thats Tanner bytheway, not just some random stranger I'm photographing in the bathroom. If that makes it less creepy...

MondayneTravel
PPS. In other news, I've also set up a new BLOG for my adventures overseas. It's basically the same sort of thing as this blog, but censored for my parents... They'll be reading it. But it might be a bit more travel-related... The webaddress is www.mondayne-travel.blogspot.com (basically the same as this but with '-travel' crammed awkwardly in it.), otherwise there will be links in the 'Link section' to go between sites. At the moment there is just the flight plan. But it looks EXCITING!!!

Enjoy!

TGIF

A FEW TIDBITS from my stupid day.

FAME
My poster hacked to peices in this weeks 'Scene' magazine. Still cool though.

FLOWER
UNG drew me a picture to cheer me up (you'll see why)

NOTHING
I got a job as the designer for some nightclubs and backpacker places in the Valley yesterday. It was a cool job, fun, ongoing casual work, with the money coming in handy overseas. It was cool. I was happy. They loved my work too! 24 hours later I was fired. Hooray! They said its not cuz of me, or my work, but purely cuz I'll be leaving soon. Perhaps next time I'll keep my idiot mouth shut.

SMACK TALK

Brody-Sucks

I DON'T WANT TO SAY ANYTHING BAD against the design genius (in most peoples opinions) but "NEVILLE BRODY IS A CRACK BABY". There. I said it. Now I'm awaiting his response. We are gonna have us an ol' fashioned designer showdown.

AN OLD FRIEND

Portfoli06

I GAVE UP trying to redesign my portfolio. I really liked the look of the old one, so I'm just gonna use that style but change a few things I was unhappy with. To start with I'm swapping Helvetica for my flavor of the month: Vag rounded. It looks a bit nicer and warmer and the lighter weights look good. I'm also changing the size; this one will be a lot smaller, and more handmade looking. Instead of trying to hide my dodgy skills at making a book I thought I should embrace that look openly. Much like Linus's mom embraces me openly! (HA! Uncalled for?) Anyway the size is now only 20x20cm but there are quite a few pages that unfold. In the image above its a bit deceptive, the pages that look smaller are really the same size but wider. Some have one page that folds out some have two. Some don't have any at all... like the interviews. I've also decided to use 2 spreads to write about the work rather than put that info on each page, that way you aren't distracted by anything. You can just focus on the work.

In theory this will be good. At this stage its looking a tad sub-par, but I'll bring it together in the end (hopefully) at any rate I only just started working on it, so I've got a bit of time to play around.

IESSO

PS. 30 days left!
PPS. Excuse the dodgy Drop Shadow...
PPPS. No I kid, Linus's mom is really cool and friendly and awesome. And we're not romantically involved as was implied in the above comment. Tanner's mom however...

YOUR TECHNICAL GUIDE TO ZOOM-AND-ENHANCING

YOU KNOW THE SCENE; they're in the office, it's late at night, and all they need to do to identify the killer is figure out who is on that survelliance footage. Well you always thought it was magic, but here it is, the exact method to proffessional zoom-and-enhancing!

STEP 1. Get the image.
(This is just a photo from Sydney, but it will do nicely. Let's try to figure out what time it is...)
Stage1

STEP 2. Polarise the co-ordinates. This is done by randomly pressing the letter keys on the keyboard. (ie. kjhfdjkhdsdjhg)
Polarise-Coordinates

STEP 3. Select the area to zoom
in on by pressing the enter key.
Selection

STEP 4. Press the keyboard a few more times to zoom in a little.
FakeZoom

STEP 5. Zoom in more.
Your boss wants you to zoom in more so we can see the guys watch. You do this by pressing the keyboard again in short bursts (ie. hngjd lghd is skhf)
RealZoomed

STEP 6. Enhance. This is the best bit. Press a few keys once again to enhance the image to a crystal clear zoom of the watch. What could be easier?
Full-Zoom

PLEASE NOTE: You might need to be in a special program such as MS Paint or ImageVeiwer to be able to do these image adjustments, but often it can be done straight from the desktop. EASY!

WE'RE MEN, WE'RE MEN IN TIGHTS...

Weirdness

TANNER AND I BUILT a subwoofer and speaker/amp box for the trunk of his car today. We did a pretty good job too seeing as though we're both idiots who don't really know how to use power tools so well and it was raining and we were outside. So I'm proud of our efforts. Then we went out to Surfers and played pool on the weirdest pooltable ever! Theres a cool shot of me shooting with some motion blur happening. All with my camera phone!

I also totally burnt my hand on a custard bun! Yeah, it's crazy I know, but the thing just came out of the oven I guess and scalding hot custard squirted out when I took a bite. It was worth it though, it was de-friggin-licious.

IESSO

PS. I'm redoing the portfolio site to make it more straight forward and less normal. Which sounds like a contradiction but hopefully it's gonna work.
