MY BIG BROTHER LOOKS AFTER ME

Here is MY version of the Big Brother poster. I suppose if you haven't read the book, you might not understand what I'm talking about, or the importance of THE POSTER... but it's absolutely crucial to the story as far as looks go. If I screw this up, I'll screw the rest of it up.

So basically I'm screwed.

But this poster is turning out better than I thought. Keep in mind that this is only a ROUGH SKETCH. I'm just working out the overall look, not focussing on things like good illustration, fonts and text and that goes with that, or anything at all really, just getting the images out of my head.

I think I might add a hand with a finger pointing like Uncle Sam or Kitchener (look that poster up in Google, it's very similar to what Orwell was thinking). And I'm gonna redraw it in Adobe Illustrator.

I like the Russian-esque hand lettering I did. But not in the hand-letter style. I'll redo that too. But the backward R and N is essential to developing a socialist theme. Don't ask me why.

Also, check out the border. It's the moto of INGSOC: War Is Peace. Freedom Is Slavery. Ignorance Is Strength. Chilling words... now you want to read the book?

IESSO

Actually I reckon it looks like Don Rickles... a comedian from way back when....

No... not Don Rickles... somebody else. I can't think of the name. He was who Strong Bad was, as the Riddler. That guy.

Gene Shallot? No... that's not the name I was trying to think of... but he looks like him too!

CESAR ROMERO! ... that was the name. But he doesn't really look like that either. Stalin: yes, of course, that other person you said... what the hell is a mon-chici? All I got in a Goog search is this little monkey thing... No, I'm gonna have to go with a crazy mix of Stalin, Gene Shallot and Cesar Romero. No Monchici. None. What. So. Ever.
